Last Day of Summer

Where did it go?  Here on the coast of Maine, we had some of the best summer weather that we've had in years -- and now it's over. As I contemplate this fact, on the eve of my 60th birthday, I also muse on where the last decade went!

In the past ten years I've created more art and grown considerably as an artist.  I've seen my only son go from teenager into a strong and sensitive young man . . . a married young man, to a lovely and intelligent woman.  And my trusty Jack Russell has been by my side though the decade, forever entertaining!
I'm going to try and keep this blog more current and give it some direction.  With this new little net-book, it's easier to cart it around and post on the fly.  With the changing of seasons, I usually do a big cleaning and rearranging in my small cottage studio. (get furniture off the heat vents and that sort of thing).  My art changes with the changes of the seasons as well.  With moving more indoors, I do less painting outside (unlike some of the die-hard plein-air painters around here like Stefan Pastuhov who get out nearly every day in the sub freezing weather . . . I admire his fortitude).
In the fall I go back through the deep reaches of my huge, but not walk in closet, finding treasures to inspire collage as well as settle into the cozy "Mac Corner" surrounded by books and files and of course Phoebe.
